The MST PID-TVOC sensor is a detector base photoionization detection. This gas detector is superioir for its small size, high sensitivity, fast response, and great shielding.It can be easily installed onto handheld/portable/online VOC monitoring in struments(for example,handheld TVOC monitors),and is good to use around fenceline,EXarea,etc.
Due to the safety of the PID, it is very easy to be integrated in other system,while considerably reducing the R&D cost.The mechanism is that the gas molecules with ionization potential than the ionization energy of the UV lamp will be detected,such as some VOCs.When pass through the UV channel, these gas molecules are ionized generating electrical signals,followed by being converted to concentrations values.

Design Overview

MST PID-TVOC is designed to be mechanically interchangeable with major brands of gas detection systems like portable or a stationary gas monitors. The sensor consists of a metal housing, fitted with a removable cap on the top and three pins for electrical connections at the bottom. Analyzed gas diffuses from the openings on the metal cap into the sensor. There are 2 layers of filters under the metal cap that prevents liquids and particles fromentering the detector cell. The ionization chamber under the the filters is where the gas samples are ionized and converted into signals. The associated circuits and the UV lamp (10.6eV) are also located inside the metal housing.
